Meet Certified Birth Doula Shauna Davis CD(DONA)
Welcome! I’m Shauna—married to my husband, Rich, for almost 25 years. We have three children, two boys and one girl, now in their later teen and early adult years. We’ve lived in Woodstock, IL since 2020, and it’s been a wonderful place to call home.
My birth journeys with all three of my children were shaped by being told what I could and could not do with my body—and with theirs—by providers I believed had our best interests at heart. Those experiences led to interventions I neither wanted nor always needed. They were painful lessons, but they also sparked my passion for women’s health and set me on a path to advocate fiercely for the clients I’m privileged to support. It is incredibly important to me that the families I serve feel fully informed, empowered, and confident in every decision they make. To support that passion, I continue to pursue ongoing education through programs such as Spinning Babies and 4TFM. I am also in the teacher training program to become a Bradley Method Childbirth Education Instructor, with certification expected in 2026 through the AAHCC.
My professional history includes working for five years in Obstetrics & Gynecology as a Certified Medical Assistant. It was through this experience that I realized how deeply I loved women’s health in all of its aspects. While I was honored to clinically care for women in their prenatal and postpartum phases, I felt a pull to support women and their partners in a more tangible and intimate way—through the entire pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum journey.
In July 2024, I added to my formal training by completing DONA International training, and received the official title of “Birth Doula”. In 2025, I received my official Birth Doula Certification from DONA International.
In October 2024, I completed NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Essential Provider Training. Although as a doula, I do not function in a clinical capacity, I wanted to be educated so I may inform and support my clients each step of the way - especially if they were ever in the situation where their newborn baby might require neonatal resuscitation.
When I’m not with clients, you can often find me in Lake Geneva for work, or on my front porch with a good book—usually birth-related—soaking up the fresh air whenever the weather allows
My goal as a doula is simple: to walk alongside you with compassion, evidence-based knowledge, and unwavering support, so you never feel alone, dismissed, or unsure of your options—something I wish I had during my births.
