PREGNANCY SUPPORT

Upon hiring me as your birth doula, you will have immediate, full access to me by phone and text. You’ll also receive access to my extensive perinatal resources and personalized recommendations for local service providers.

We will meet four times in person during your pregnancy. Our initial meeting will include reviewing your new-client intake paperwork, followed by three home visits around 24, 31, and 35 weeks of pregnancy.

During these visits, we’ll talk through your hopes, wishes, fears, and preferences for pregnancy, labor, and birth. We’ll also review any previous pregnancy or birth experiences to ensure your care is fully personalized.

Together, we’ll walk through prenatal exercises you can begin right away, including those you can practice using your birth ball—every client receives one as a gift. We’ll also explore relaxation, breathing, and comfort techniques, and rehearse labor positions using the peanut ball and CUB that I bring to every birth.

At your 31-week prenatal visit, we’ll create your birth intentions together and finalize this document by 35 weeks. You can then share it with your provider at your in-office appointment, and it will also be provided to your birth team at your chosen birth location.

LABOR & BIRTH SUPPORT

Beginning at 37 weeks (or earlier for twins or clients with a history of preterm birth), I provide 24/7 on-call support to ensure you feel fully supported as your guess date (estimated due date) approaches.

I will stay in regular contact to check in on how you're feeling—physically, emotionally, and mentally—so you’re never navigating this final stretch alone.

Also beginning at 37 weeks, I will send you a daily illustrated birth affirmation via text (created by Mama Natural).

We’ll stay in close communication as early labor begins. Together, we’ll continually assess how you’re feeling—both physically and emotionally—and determine the right time for me to join you at home asyou continue through your labor. This may be during early labor or as you transition into active labor, depending on your unique needs.

After your baby is born, I will remain with you, your birth partner, and your new baby until you feel fully settled, including offering support with your baby’s first feeding.

POSTPARTUM SUPPORT

Once you are home and settling in with your new baby, I will come for one scheduled postpartum visit, typically between days 5–7.

During this visit, we’ll review your labor and birth experience, discuss newborn care, and address any feeding questions or concerns you may have.

If postpartum concerns arise, I can provide resources and referrals upon request.

I will continue to offer support by phone, email, and text through six weeks postpartum. I also love when clients choose to stay in touch and share updates as their babies grow and reach new milestones—rolling over, sitting up, crawling, walking, and more!

  • “My wife and I had a fantastic experience with Shauna as our doula! This was our first child and having Shauna as a support and resource during the pregnancy was both helpful and reassuring. Our birth experience proved to be unideal in several ways, but Shauna was with us through all of it. She provided helpful suggestions, reasoned with us through difficult decisions, and was generally a bright spot through a challenging experience. We highly recommend her to anyone and if we were not moving soon, would use her for future births!”

  • “Shauna was an incredible support for my husband and I throughout my pregnancy, incredibly long and difficult labor and delivery and postpartum too! Shauna truly is such a caring person and she is super easy to talk to and connect with. We are so thankful we chose her as our doula!”

  • “Shauna joined us very late on our second pregnancy journey. She was so supportive and knowledgeable being still one of her first Doula clients! When it came time for delivery she was calm and supportive throughout the entire process and so mindful of my birth wants and desires with having to go to a plan B option already with an induction. The nurses all came in after Shauna left the hospital and just raved about her demeanor and techniques through the birthing process and could not believe she had only been to a few other births prior to mine! I would highly recommend Shauna!”

  • “Shauna was fantastic. Would strongly recommend having a doula for birth in general, and can personally recommend Shauna based on our own experience. She cares so much for you, it is not just a client relationship. We had a rather long labor, and Shauna was with us for almost 24 hours straight, until Baby arrived and we were settled. She is calm and was very good at recommending the next exercise/activity/rest option to help us cope with and move labor along. As it was our first birth, we both had our own insecurities and uncertainties of what to expect. Having Shauna there helped both of us relax, rest as needed, and we got the homebirth we were aiming for.”

    The Norbergs, Google Review

  • “We used Shauna for our first baby in July and I don’t know what we would have done without her. She answered any and all questions I had during my pregnancy, and was willing to do anything to help when needed. She had all the tips and tricks I needed to feel as comfortable as possible. During the home visits before the baby was born, she went over everything that could happen and that might come up so we felt prepared for those things.

During labor and delivery a lot of things happened that scared me, and the doctors were making things worse. They didn’t have great bedside manner. If Shauna wasn’t there to calm me down I don’t know how I would have felt. When everything is going wrong you just need a calm in the storm and that’s what she was form me. Her being that calm when I needed it most made her service very valued and much needed. She also knew all the right things to say and do during contractions. This empowered me to tell my husband how to do those same things. She even made a postpartum visit, and still texts to check in with us 2 months postpartum!

I would recommend Shauna to anyone looking for a calm, supportive, and informed doula!”
